Walking in the Rain with Ravens

Well, I had to go to a doctors appointment this morning, to get blood drawn for some lab work. Everything that can be wrong with someone, happens to run on My mom’s side of the family, so, the doctor decided it would be a good idea to do some screening…

Yay.

Anyway, we’ve been getting some rain, and, before it was time for me to leave, I looked out, and it was clear out. Of course, that changed right when I was ready to walk out the door. I looked out, and, rain…. Oh JOY!

Now, some of you know, I love rain, I love to go running around barefoot in the rain. But, since it’s currently cold out… it’s not the wisest of ideas that a person could have. Another thing… I don’t currently have any kind of jacket that is water proof… so, I figured I’d be soaked by the time I got to the doctors office.. (Oh well… He can prescribe something for whatever rain induced plague I might pick up.)

So, I leave the house, at least we were dealing with a very light drizzle. I get about a block away from the house, and, I see a rather large raven, sitting in a tree. When I got about 5 feet from the tree, Mr Raven takes flight, talking right at me, and then flies in a circle, directly above my head, goes to the opposite side of the street, and perches on one of the lamp posts.

I know to stop and pay attention to the Ravens. But, I just didn’t have time today to stay and talk to the bird. I told him that I’d love to stay and chat, but, I didn’t have time. That if he had a message for me, he was welcome to follow me. (He chose to stay where he was.)

So, I continue on my walk to the doctors office. I’d say that I got another block, and, I see yet another raven. Not as big as the first, but, still a nice size. Amazingly, he does the same thing that the raven before him did. Takes flight, talking at me, circles above my head, and goes back to his perch in the tree.

Amazing coincidence… And, I don’ t believe in coincidence… lol… The birds really have my attention now, but, I still have somewhere to be, and I dont’ want to be caught in the rain. I keep walking.

I go another 2 blocks, and what should I see… Another Raven. Talk about having an eventful morning. I look up, and see him, and as I’m walking, he chooses to do the same thing that the previous two have done.

Out of the tree he comes, talking at me.. Circles above my head, and goes to the telephone poll on the opposite side of the street. Once perched, He talks, rather loudly, and I hear the other raven’s calling. Both of the ones that I’d already passed, and a chorus of other birds down the street that I happened to be going.

It’s at this point, that I realize…. The Rain has stopped. Oh yeah, the sky’s still grey, there’s still lots of moisture in the air, clouds in the sky, but the rain has stopped.

I made it all the way to my doctors appointment, and all the way back, and stayed dry. Once I got home, the drizzle started again… Pretty amazing and very interesting coincidence, don’t you think?

I suppose that An Morrigan has a job for me. I’ll be putting in some serious meditation time tonight, once the house is quiet. I’m quite interested and curious to see what’s going to happen next.
