Poem written by Nicole Taeko Yamaguchi for Our dad.
MY DAD
MY DAD WASN’T RICH
MY DAD WASN’T POOR
HE DID HIS BEST,
TO RAISE US FOUR.
HE LOVED US ALL,
GOOD OR BAD.
I MISS HIM SO MUCH,
HE WAS THE GREATEST DAD.
MY DAD WAS A FIGHTER
MY DAD WAS SO STRONG
AFTER HE HEARD “CANCER,”
HE JUST KNEW
THEY HAD TO BE WRONG.
I KNEW DEEP IN MY HEART,
WE DIDN’T HAVE LONG.
HOW COULD SOMEONE SO STRONG,
FOREVER BE GONE.
MY DAD WAS TOUGH
MY DAD WAS SCARED
THE TEARS IN HIS EYES,
WERE HARD TO BARE.
HE TOLD US ALL,
HE LOVED US SO MUCH.
LATER THAT NIGHT,
STILL WARM TO THE TOUCH
I KISSED HIM GOOD-BYE…..
I NEVER KNEW MY HEART,
COULD HURT SO MUCH.
